The Raleigh Police Department has a new tool to help crackdown on speeders.
The Department has been given four new portable radar speed signs. One is set up at Plaza Place in Raleigh, a location that has received several complaints from residents about speeding.
“Once it’s posts speeds, it collects the data—the speed and time of day—therefore the police can know what time to set up the device and it’s been very effective,” said NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program Director David Weinstein.
The data will also help Raleigh police determine peak times when cruisers need to be out on the look out for speeders.
The signs have been paid for by a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Eventually the signs will be moved to other locations throughout the City.
